Bristol - Cambridge - Manchester - Livingston (May 2014) A Review of the 2013 Device Developers' Conference
The delegates valued the workshops and the quality of the technical content of the event and exhibitors valued the chance to meet with senior engineers, many of whom had future projects and real requirements for new tools and technology. Many exhibitors have already express a wish to participate next year. Surprisingly, some delegates also contacted us to express their satisfaction with the event and to mention that next year they will bring along some colleagues. "Thanks for a great day yesterday. The Workshop and Presentations really made it stand out from the run-of-the-mill exhibitions that we have become accustomed to" Photo Gallery of the 2013 Conference - An Additional Location (Scotland) for 2014 Taking the event 'on tour', so to speak, is definitely valued by the engineering community and it helps us attract senior developers who are often reluctant to take a full day (or two) out of the office.
In view of this, in addition to this year's Bristol, Cambridge and Manchester locations, we are planning to explore an additional location in Livingston, Scotland. This is in response to a request from several of this year's exhibiting companies. We intend to use the same venue at Bristol, as it worked very well for us. We will be looking for new, more spacious venues in the Cambridge and Manchester area for 2014. Six Half-Day Technical Workshops
This year's MISRA C:2012, Extreme Debugging and Device Driver Development workshops were oversubscribed at Cambridge and Bristol, proving how engineers value the opportunity to learn from an industry expert. Next year we plan to run two workshops on software development, two workshops relating to hardware and two relating to enclosure design/pcb design.
At the next Device Developers' Conference we will bring more clarity to the agenda by having a dedicated presentation stream for software developers, and a dedicated presentation stream for those more involved with hardware development. Topics for next year may include GUI Development, Data Management and Security, Designing for Low Power, RTOS considerations for Safety Critical, Working with DSP's, ASIC Development, Hardware Testing and Enclosure Design. We will update the 2014 website as presentation slots are agreed. Cost Effective, Well Promoted and Well Organised Our ambition is to further build on what we regard as a 'repectable start'. Hence why we are already planning and working on next year's Conference. If you would like to be a part of this, then please get in touch. You can book your space, suggest workshop and presentation ideas and get on board as soon as you like, and we'll be happy to recieve final confirmation during December and January. We fully understand the complexities of budget approval and concerns regarding an uncertain economy, but are are equally keen to push on and create a great event for then industry.
