"Developing Advanced Embedded Systems using Smart Phone Technology"
Outline Over the past 10 years, there has been massive investment in the development of technology for smart phones. This has resulted in low cost silicon that can deliver astonishingly impressive graphics, amazing connectivity, rapid computation, and even GPS, video and camera capability - all in a small footprint package that draws very little current.
This technology is now available to engineers working in the industrial, medical, automotive and digital signage sectors. It is also now available in robust industrial formats, capable of 24/7 operation and extreme temperatures.
This workshop will discuss and demonstrate how best to exploit this new generation of hardware. It will explore the hardware and silicon options, the choice of OS support, display options and it will explain what is now achievable and the best approach to a development.

Objectives: - to understand the latest RISC technology and the reasons to move to smart phone technology - to understand how to migrate your next product to smart phone technology - to understand silicon and hardware options and operating system choices.
Delegates will learn: - the benefits of smart phone technology e.g power usage, graphics, user interface, communications, size etc. - the technical challenges and choices when adopting this technology - OS, interface, peripherals. - the commercial considerations for low, medium and high volume production and time to market. - the environmental considerations such as temperature, shock and vibration and EMC.

Who should attend: - Engineers and Project Managers working with intelligent device and systems.
